Fresh Start
15th august 2008 - 19.02 GMT
A quick notice before the main bulk of this update -we are no longer playing King Lynn tomorrow (16th August) due to illness in the band. Big sorry to everyone that was coming out to see us. On with the main news...
As you may have noticed, we've recenty had 4 gigs cancelled on us for various reason beyond our control, and besides gigging alot over the past month, been a bit quiet. The past blogs have also, all been deleted.
After nearly 100 gigs over the past 20 or so months in support of 2006's 'Regret-Redeem-Refine', and since becoming a 4 piece, we've had the good fortune to share stages with some incredible bands, such as Prong, Panic Cell, Speedtheory, Outcryfire, Evil Scarecrow (our oldest gigging buddies) and Raging Speedhorn to name but a few. We've played all over the UK, put out new merchandise, including the recently released 'Screen for me Peterborough' live DVD, and visited every dive where it was at all possible. We feel we have well and truly exhausted the setlist and we are badly in need of a new start, material wise. Now we're gonna allow ourselves a bit of time off to have a break for ourselves and focus on playing the last 4 or 5 gigs up until the end of 2008, then launch a brand new set around March/April time 2009 all being well, cooking up the makings of our next recording. There will also be some more details on our label situation very shortly, currently Redskin Records as you might already know.
So after this last run, you won't see us for a while, we'd like to extend a HUGE thanks to absolutely everyone who has been there since day one, and made especially this past nearly 2 years such a great ride for us and supported it/made it happen in any way/ Be it in a band, venue staff, sound guys, drivers, nice people who's floors we slept on or just anyone who came out to the gigs and picked up a cd, THANKYOU!
We'll be back soon with some crushing new sound, be afraid
Be very afraid...
Thanks ;)

New website and a much needed update
11th July 2008 - 02:08 GMT
Welcome to the brand new Smokescreen site to accompany the upcoming 'Screen for me England tour... Full dates for the tour are now up. Check to the right, or the tour page above or seek out the flyer that is splattered about all over the place to see if we're playing near you. We're making our preperations for the tour as you read this and the first date is less than 48 hours away. The first date see's the release of our new DVD - 'Screen for me Peterborough, recorded earlier in the year. It's a limited pressing - so get them while you can.
Mesh caps are back again - see the 'treasures' page for more details - and get 'em now before they're all gone. If you haven't yet you can get t-shirts, CD's, beanies and lots of other things over in the treasures section too. Pillage the goods... in a less illegal manner - via paypal.
We've got some new things on the site, including some desktop backgrounds available in the 'Media' section - so you can jazz up your computer with some SS imagery. Video's from several shows, including footage from the upcoming DVD's are on the site as well as new live tracks on the player at the top of the page throughout the whole website, be sure to check the tracks out if you haven't heard them yet. There's also a new 'links' section - so check out some of our friends listed there. There will be more and more stuff added over the summer through the tour, both to this site and to the MySpace, so keep checking back!
See ya'll on the road! |
